Hemker ZOO!

Today we went to the Hemker Zoo in Freeport MN. You can click on the link here. The two facts I learned today were...
1. Most penguins live in warmer climates
2. The African Black Footed Penguin (see below) has 100 feathers that fit in one quarter

There are 4 penguins at the Hemker Zoo and the penguin below is named Ruby.
When I touched her white feathers they felt softer than the black ones. Something that surprised me when I touched her was her wing felt bonier than I thought.
I had a great time!

Penguin Movie Clip

This is a movie clip from the MN Zoo Penguin exhibit.

A Trip to the Minnesota Zoo

These are pictures of penguins of the African Coast at the Minnesota Zoo. I watched them play, swim and eat. The zoo keepers from the MN Zoo fed the penguins fish. My favorite part the visit was seeing the penguins dive into the water.

Book Review 2

Penguins are Cool

Something I learned in this book : A penguin's colors help it hide from enemies. And penguins have dark backs that look like the dark water below them.

Something I learned in this book is - When a penguin drops an egg it freezes on solid ice. The chick doesn't make it. That is why penguins waddle with the egg on top of their feet carefully.

My Research Poster on Little Blue Penguins

This is my research project about little blue penguins.
It took me lots and lots of weeks to do this. I worked with a teacher from my school.  First I had to write all the facts on a piece of paper. Then, I wrote all of the facts on the computer at school. Then after a while my teacher printed it out for me.
Here it is....

National Penguin Day April 25th!

Tomorrow is National Penguin Day on April 25th 2014. I plan to decorate the house with penguin art and other stuff like blue paper chains. I'm going to use the color blue because it reminds me of penguins because they live near water. There is a penguin named Little Blue or Fairy Penguin because they are the smallest penguin. You can see them by clicking here.
Happy National Penguin Day Everyone!
